Plants, what basics things I had overlooked for so many years. I’m almost ashamed of myself really. These days they are my food (I’m vegan), my medicine (see my mushroom ceremonies blog here), my clean air, they are all our friends, I believe you should always have plants in your home.
They say you have two homes, your body and this planet and there are plants in both, constantly. Wether you recognise it or not. Having plants around you has a calming effect on you, I think it calls back to a deep natural state of mind for me.
Keep In Touch With Your Spirituality
Spiritually speaking the leaves that fall from the trees, for example, won’t be much good composting away in your living room. Your garden yes, but I’m keeping this blog about the inside for now. Everything about plants from their look, feel, smell, the very presence of plants can be such a calming thing to have around. The Rudraksha beads I wear around my neck come from trees found in the Himalayas, plants nonetheless and are with me all the time. I use them to keep me in touch with my spirituality and meditate with them. Having plants in your home can do the same, if you care for them.
Being at home and having plants with you will keep your spiritual candle lit and either consciously or subconsciously keep you grounded. The most basic and oldest of spirits is with you. You must recognise the power of plants and the ancient spirits that lye within them. This might sound ‘out there’ even for a spiritual blog but I myself have realised how much they now give me now I have recognised their importance.
“Care for them”
Keep Your Air Clear
If we look at the science for a minute plants have been proved to purify the air and remove contaminants, hey presto cleaner air. English Ivy has shown to reduce mould spores by 78%, thats good going! The short version then is that you’re breathing cleaner air when you have plants with you. My meditation and relaxation use breath work as a key component so it’s reassuring to know that my green friends are keeping that air going in cleaner for me. I think this goes for when I’m asleep too.
They are your friends, keep them close.
Boost Your Mood In Winter
I live in London and the English winter is a real downer on things. London has much better weather than the North where I’m originally from but still, the grey wet days really get to me.
Green and glowing plants don’t half help me. Don’t get me wrong I love the Autumn on certain days too but I’m like my Dad, I love spring when everything is bursting in to life. Swapping the autumn colours for the spring ones is sign of lighter times, longer days, more plants, leaves, sun on my face.
Having a little reminder of this in my rooms is a must!
“If you want to know yourself, know that there is no self.”
Always have plants in your home – sound advice. Likewise a big part of my spiritual journey so far has been recognising the power of plants. Wether they cast me in to the other realms I have seen or clean my air, I need them, and so do you. Give yourself a head start and visit your local plant nursery and buy yourself a plant friend and care for it. It’s relaxing and mind opening, if you allow yourself to realise.
“Cleaner air, brighter mood, contact with your spirituality”
Realiser was born from a dream to be in a realised state, a state of awaken. To be able to see the most obvious things having missed them for so many years. Subsequently I wanted to create something to serve as an example of how it could be. If only we might spend the time loving that we spend hating. Above all spending the time to be kind to others for no reason. You get the idea. I will travel around doing what I can and would love for you to join me. Follow my path here…
